Components and hard constraints
- Exactly two cameras, both fully inside the handle.
- Two complete light modules, fully inside the handle.
- The tray contains mirrors and passive mirror supports only. No tray-mounted cameras, light sources or drivers.
- Each module reserves white, structured light, visible-light fluorescence excitation and NIR functions. There is no UV channel.
- Test the existing handle first, then use explicit local enlargement where needed. Hollowing, optical openings and mirror pockets are included in the geometry.
Compact packaging evaluation
The compact study reserves two 5 × 5 × 8 mm camera assemblies, 8 × 8 × 12 mm combined light heads, and one 12 × 40 × 4 mm shared driver strip. These are custom assembly allowances supported by miniature component research, not verified purchased four-channel modules. Optical layouts also include explicitly modelled opaque wiring reserves. See the smaller handle evaluation for the current geometric results, actual housing dimensions and source evidence.
Fluorescence: caries and plaque/biofilm
The provisional starting point is 450 nm visible-blue excitation. Both caries-related fluorescence contrast and plaque/biofilm fluorescence are intended requirements. Excitation rejection, emission-pass filters, spectral response and exposure switching must be specified and tested using the same two cameras. Surface coverage cannot predict detection sensitivity or specificity.
White light, 450 nm visible fluorescence and 850 nm class NIR flood remain sequential provisional modes. The compact study evaluates the angular access of a 940 nm fixed-dot source. Mirror coatings, lenses, source divergence, focus and detector response need measured spectra. The model uses ideal specular geometry and does not infer tissue optical properties from ordinary scan colours.
